Photobiomodulation for Shoulder, Elbow, and Hand: From Acute Injury to Chronic Dysfunction Upcoming
Upper extremity injuries involving the shoulder, elbow, and hand are extremely common in sports, recreational activities, and occupational settings. In many cases, patients initially attempt to self-manage these conditions through rest and activity modification, often expecting the injury to resolve on its own.
As compensation patterns develop, secondary conditions commonly emerge throughout the kinetic chain of the upper extremity. What may begin as a localized biceps tendinopathy, for example, can progress into lateral epicondylitis, wrist pain, myofascial dysfunction, referred pain patterns, and additional soft tissue involvement. These cascading dysfunctions are frequently accompanied by trigger point development, altered movement mechanics, and chronic inflammatory or degenerative changes.
In this webinar, Drs. Christopher Carraway and Mayer Green will explore practical approaches for integrating photobiomodulation (PBM) with complementary therapeutic interventions to address both the primary injury and the compensatory patterns contributing to persistent pain and dysfunction.
Key Takeaways
Understand how acute upper extremity injuries progress into chronic dysfunction through compensation patterns and kinetic chain disruption
Learn practical PBM applications for common shoulder, elbow, wrist, and hand conditions, including tendinopathies and myofascial pain
Develop effective clinical strategies for combining PBM with complementary therapies to improve recovery and functional outcomes
